Architecture and Design becoming more and more Green at Cersaie 2014
With just a little over two months to the start of the 2014 edition of CERSAIE, the International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings will be held in Bologna from 22 to 26 September. DSG Ceramics, the porcelain gres division of Decoratori Bassanesi, returns again this year to present previews of its 2015 products: new formats, new colours and new gres surfaces for increasingly resistant and elegant solutions. The Venetian-based company specialized in the production of architectural tiles will be present at all five days in Bologna (Hall 20, stand B64 and C63) with a spirit perfectly in line with the sustainability message promoted by the Exhibition in recent years.
In parallel to the boom in the green sector - green building and green design - CERSAIE launched the three yearly CERSAIE for Sustainability in 2011, an innovative project focused on the harmonic union of nature and ceramics that has made an exhibition dedicated to ceramics into the first eco-friendly one. A result achieved thanks to sustainable choices and actions ranging from reducing environmental impact to the creation of a truly green area for the communication of all eco-friendly initiatives.
Designers, architects and many other industry professionals that for a long time have embraced the philosophy of building green, will on this occasion be bringing innovative solutions to CERSAIE with a focus on respect for the environment, such as the green-oriented stand showcasing ethically responsible projects.
Ceramic and environment, a duo that the International Exhibition of Ceramic put into the front page during 2013 edition, also thanks to the cooperation with the Green Economy Festival, one of the major events for the divulgation of sustainability themes which interest the industrial districts. The meeting " Cities and buildings that changes in a sustainable way, offered to the Companies and industry professionals the opportunity to get closer to the green living world, with the analysis of history homes on an international level and participation of experts in automation, computer technologies and health.
A ceramic that makes attention to the environment is the mission also shared by DSG, that converts it into passion for technological innovation, connecting sustainability values with practicality and refinement. As for the new thin slab 4.8 mm: the last news by ceramic industry in terms of eco-saving, permits to produce high quality porcelain gres with a considerable energy saving, both for cooking and for transport.
DSG's environment care can be found in every choice: from the reduced use of carton, to the absence of glue in the packaging and to the much lower emissions than those permitted by the current regulations.
On the other hand, the respect for environment is one of the fundamental prerogatives for Companies in the sector that are involved in the realization of design and architectural works, both in Italy and abroad.
The data shows a big increase in the use of green materials.
Green building should achieve an increase of 13% between 2011 and 2015, about 71billion dollars only in USA. According to the study of Freedonia Group (an American society of research), in the same period of time they are provided:
An increase of 12% for sustainable coverings
An increase of 12% per year for doors in green materials
- An increase of 8% per year for the insulating frames
This trend is also confirmed by the phenomenon of LEED diffusion - Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design: a system applied in more than 140 countries all over the world, whose protocols certifies the buildings indicating the requirements in terms of environmental impact and energetic efficiency. A real revolution for the global market of buildings, while in Italy the LEED registered buildings are more than 200 on a total surface of more than 3 millions sqm.
It is not just legislation. Nowadays, the green style offers a lot of expressive possibilities in architectural and design's productions, such as testifies the most famous professionals in the sector, who made works that are models to imitate to build tomorrow's best practices.
Renzo piano, the world's icon of Made in Italy architecture, talking about sustainability says:
" I am attracted by the argument since it wasn't called so. The bet was to subtract the substance and defy the gravity force. I was fascinated by the spatial structures, by the so called "space frame" [...] Today sustainability is something else: is not only a substance-saving."
